This month I began my internship with the nonprofit organization Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). KIND was founded by Angelina Jolie and Brad Smith from Microsoft in order to provide legal services for undocumented children. Once detained at the border, children are placed in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, where they are placed in shelters and screened in order to find the motive for crossing the border. These children are then placed into removal proceedings, and often cannot understand the process and are left unrepresented in a full on lawsuit. As a result, these children are forced back to their countries despite theirShow MoreRelatedHuman Trafficking And Sexual Exploitation787 Words à |à 4 PagesSpeak out in order to judge with righteousness and to defend the needy and the poor.â⬠This quote is from Proverbs 31:8-10 and is my motivation for fighting against human trafficking.
